Acting Minister of Environment, Fitore Pacolli, has responded to the accusations of LDK MP Hykmete Bajrami regarding the situation at the Sverka landfill.
Pacolli dismissed claims that the Kosovo Landfill Management Company (KMDK) administers this landfill, emphasizing that the Regional Waste Company “Ambienti” holds full responsibility for its management.

She sharply countered Bajrami for the criminal complaint the latter has filed against the Government and demanded that the justice authorities investigate the matter.
Stressing that the Sverka landfill has not been managed in accordance with the required standards, Pacolli added that KMDK provided advice to the company “Ambienti” to separate the layers of waste with soil or other non-flammable materials.
She assured that the Ministry of Environment has carried out its duties and disclosed that the Inspectorate imposed a fine of 5,000 euros on KRM “Ambienti” for violating standards.
Continuing her response, Pacolli leveled accusations against the LDK and Bajrami for what she termed “victimization”, claiming that the MP is trying to protect the leaders of the company “Ambienti”.
“The Sverka landfill is run by Gazi’s people, whom you are trying to protect by turning into a centrifuge of his responsibility,” Pacolli wrote in her response.
She added that KMDK assisted the company “Ambienti” on the ground, but claimed that no official or employee of that company was present to supervise the works.
In conclusion, Pacolli expressed her readiness for the Prosecution to conduct a full investigation, emphasizing that only through such a process could the real culprits for the situation created at the Sverka landfill be identified.
