The session of the Democratic Party’s National Council was marked by high tensions and an unexpected confrontation. Ilirjana Kuçana, a member of the body, clashed directly with opposition leader Sali Berisha shortly after he presented lists containing the names of candidates for several leadership positions within the party.
Addressing the Democratic leader, Kuçana insisted: “Please, I have a request that I submitted 24 hours earlier. Please, follow the statute. Do not begin the task… Please, read it.”

Berisha briefly intervened: “One minute,” but she immediately replied: “No, doctor.”
The Democratic leader then explained his position: “Let me speak, let me give the answer. The submission of the resolution has its own procedure. You will have the right, but according to the procedure, read the statute. You will have the right.”
Kuçana did not back down and continued her accusation: “Doctor, you violated the statute at the moment when…” At this point, Berisha interrupted her: “Ilirjana, once again, one minute, ma’am. Please, can I give you an answer or not? You communicated with me today. I replied to you and told you: follow the statute.”
Immediately after the lengthy clash, the Democratic Party cut off the media broadcast as the National Council meeting continued.
