Work officially began today on a major project in the Municipality of Saraj, aimed at regulating the bed of the Lumi i Thatë (Dry River). For this capital intervention, the Ministry of Environment has secured a fund of 376 million denars. Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski attended the ceremony, along with the mayors of Saraj and Çair, Muhamet Elmazi and Izet Mexhiti.
Mayor Elmazi described this as a historic moment for the area, emphasizing that a long wait is now paving the way for concrete reality. According to him, while others have relied on words and electoral promises, tangible investments have now been delivered. He stressed that the risk Lumi i Thatë posed to homes, agricultural land, and the families of Saraj is coming to an end, thanks to an investment exceeding 379 million denars and spanning 12 kilometers of the riverbed, from Bojana to Gllumova.

Elmazi added that this project is not merely an infrastructure undertaking, but clear proof that with political will and institutional seriousness, promises held hostage for decades can be materialized within a short governance span. “Saraj no longer waits, Saraj builds,” he concluded, signaling that this is just the beginning of a series of initiatives.
