India summons Iranian deputy ambassador for explanations on Indian sailor’s death in Strait of Hormuz

Two ships were struck by Iranian missiles near the Omani coast, resulting in the death of an Indian sailor and injuries to eight other crew members.

A representative of the Indian government announced that authorities summoned Iran’s deputy ambassador to account for the killing in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to Tehran, the two tankers were “violators” and were attacked after they ignored warnings and attempted to navigate through a “mined area.”

The United Nations maritime agency reports that since the conflict began on February 28 until the first days of June, 14 sailors have lost their lives as a result of incidents in this region.
