The European Union Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, described this date as a “Super Tuesday” for the entire enlargement process, stating that Albania will close the first three negotiation chapters. For the first time in the last two decades, Brussels is holding four membership conferences on the same day, putting the spotlight on the progress of Albania, Ukraine, Moldova, and Montenegro.
Commissioner Kos stressed that enlargement remains a strategic priority for the European Union. She emphasized that progress is not merely procedural but must translate into concrete results on the ground for the citizens of candidate countries.

Kos’s post:
“Today is a ‘Super Tuesday’ for the European Union’s enlargement. For the first time in more than two decades, we are holding four membership conferences on the same day. The four countries leading the process – Ukraine, Moldova, Albania, and Montenegro – are all taking major steps forward on their path to EU membership.
With Ukraine and Moldova we are opening Cluster 6, which covers areas such as defense and security, where the arguments for their membership in the European Union are particularly strong. Albania will close its first negotiation chapters. Meanwhile, Montenegro is already in the final stage of formal negotiations, having closed 18 of 33 chapters. Now, this positive momentum must be turned into concrete results on the ground,” Marta Kos wrote on the social network “X”.
