The serious incident in Fier, where several teenage girls assaulted a 17-year-old girl, has sparked strong public reaction. Among those reacting was the family of one of the 15-year-old girls involved, who through tears publicly apologized to the assaulted minor and her family, expressing deep remorse for what happened.
The parents of the 15-year-old say they first learned about the incident through the media and later went to the police, where they gave their explanations to the authorities.

The family explains that their daughter was diagnosed about three months ago with mental health problems and that since then they have sought help from institutions for her treatment. According to them, the minor had shown aggressive behavior even earlier, while requests for support and therapy did not receive the proper response.
Because they cannot financially afford specialized treatment, the parents are calling on state institutions to intervene and help with their daughter’s treatment, hoping that she will receive the medical and psychological care she needs.
They stress that they are not trying to justify what their daughter did, but are asking that, alongside legal accountability for the incident, the need to treat her health problems not be neglected.
