Vojo Peçi, brother of Tërmet Peçi, accused of fencing off 10,000 m² of public beach in Porto Palermo

An area of around 10,000 m² of public land and beach in the area known as “Hidden Bay” in Porto Palermo is alleged to have been occupied by Vojo Peçi, the brother of Socialist Party MP Tërmet Peçi.

According to the claims in the article, Vojo Peçi, who is mentioned as an anti-crime officer, fenced off this area with barbed wire and an iron gate, using it as a private beach.

The text says that this coastal area does not appear to be his inherited property, since he has no connection to the area, nor was it bought or rented from the owners or the state, but was allegedly appropriated by exploiting his position as an anti-crime officer and the closeness his MP brother has with Edi Rama.

A year ago, as part of the campaign to free up public spaces, Prime Minister Edi Rama ordered former Police Director Ilir Proda to remove from the police force any employee who had occupied land, plots, parks, sidewalks, and public beaches. According to the article, no action has been taken in this case.

According to the content as well, one of the people who has occupied land and beach territory in Himara is precisely Vojo Peçi, who is identified as the brother of former Tepelena mayor and current MP Tërmet Peçi.

The article compares the enclosure of this area to a closed base, claiming that at “Hidden Bay” barbed-wire fencing, an iron gate, and guards with illegal weapons have been put in place.

Inside the fenced-off territory, according to these claims, a hotel and parking area have been built without permits, and guest lodgings, beach umbrellas, and sun loungers have also been set up. It says that only vacationers staying there and those who pay for day access to the beach are allowed in.

The article also says that citizens and foreign tourists who have tried to enter the fenced-off beach have faced threats and violence from armed individuals who, according to it, were placed there by Vojo Peçi.

The text also recalls the case of Zvërnec, where a barbed-wire fence, although backed by a development permit, triggered public reaction and was removed, while protests have continued for more than 3 weeks.

According to the article, despite numerous complaints, the Himara Municipality, the Territorial Protection Inspectorate, and the State Police have not intervened to remove the barbed-wire fence and iron gate at Hidden Bay beach in Porto Palermo.

The content claims that no order has been given by Edi Rama to free this public space, remove the fence, gate, umbrellas, and sun loungers, as well as to demolish the hotel of Vojo and Tërmet Peçi.

The article also emphasizes that “Pamfleti” reported this case on July 31, 2025, and says that today it is reminding police chief Skënder Hita about it, arguing that this is a violent occupation of a public space by an anti-crime officer who is the brother of a Socialist Party MP.

Finally, the article says that local residents will decide for themselves whether to remove the fence and free the public beach.
