“Don’t even think about resigning”/ Rama publishes a citizen’s message: Nothing can stop us

This Thursday, Prime Minister Edi Rama shared on Facebook a message from a citizen from Vlora, who asked him not to consider resigning, following days of calls from protesters gathered in front of the Prime Minister’s Office.

Rama said he has received many messages that he has not had the chance to respond to, and stressed that neither he nor the Socialist Party can be stopped by anyone. According to him, the goal remains Albania’s path toward the European Union in 2030. He also published the lengthy message sent to him by the citizen.

GOOD MORNING, and with this message from the hundreds that I have not been able to read all of, thanking each and every one with my apologies for not replying, while also assuring everyone that there is no force that can stop us, me, you, the Socialist Party and every non-partisan citizen who believes in me, in our mission toward Albania 2030 in the European Union, but also that there is nowhere within me any illusion about how much still needs to be corrected through persistent work, I wish you all a good day.

Good evening, Mr. Prime Minister. You may be wondering who I am and how I found your number… that does not matter, or rather, what matters much more is the message I want to convey to you. Later, if you wished to know me, it would be a great pleasure for me.

Do not even think about resigning (in Italy we say “Nemmeno Per Scherzo”)!

You and the Socialist Party have been the ones who in recent years have worked for a vision that is making us young people who were born and/or raised abroad dream. Yes, you are making us dream of moving to our country of origin to come and live and work there, and I do not want that dream to be extinguished precisely now when it seems so close to becoming reality!

Hundreds of thousands of citizens can gather in Tirana every evening and protest endlessly… but you should know that you have strong support from those who live and work honestly, people like me and my family! People who do not even have time to sit on TikTok and create fake news with Artificial Intelligence, nor even to show you how much we support you as prime minister, because unlike those who spend their days in cafes, on TikTok, spinning their tires around meaninglessly in cars with tinted windows and gathering in central Tirana every evening to feel important and involved in something (even though they are the ones who, simply to avoid making an effort, exclude themselves from an ambitious life), we have a life and ambitions to move forward.

My family and I are from Vlora, very close to the new airport and the new resort area. As for the latter, honestly, we value its completion much more than the airport itself.

I could make you a list of the things I support and oppose, but I want to use this moment to give you some advice on how to remove a stain that the internet and ignorant people have placed on you at this moment… namely that you are the prime minister who is selling Albania.

You need to change the method of communication, especially because you also have political opponents who use cliched phrases to manipulate citizens, and unfortunately it is very easy to manipulate Albanians…

Anyone who works and who is informed about how the management of a state and investments functions knows that this is not the case. They know that you are not selling anything!

Anyone who knows what a Resort is knows that it is not a Hotel! A Resort is a complex of sports centers, hotels, hospitals, attractions and more. And I hope the project will be like that, so not just luxury hotels. I hope to see there in Vlora what “Olimpiapark” is in Munich, Germany, our own Olympiapark by the sea, something that Europe and the whole world would envy us for.

The job I do in Italy is a job that on average pays 1,600 euros a month, but I even earn three times more, and do you know why? Because the people I do it for are people who spend!

Mass tourism has helped the population turn their homes into hotels and rental apartments, and those people know well that when you move up a level, you shift to tourism that is smaller in numbers but spends more, meaning less work and more profit!

But for those people to come there, they must be offered many services; no one goes to a destination where there is nothing around it.

Communication must be used to re-educate the population! On Monday I returned from Albania after two weeks of vacation and for the first time in my life I thought: I would like to try living and working here.

Why don’t I do it? What keeps me away? The lifestyle! And no, I am not talking about conveniences; now almost nothing is missing, the work you have done in these years is bringing the country to the same level as EU countries.

My lifestyle is hindered by the Albanian people themselves. By lifestyle I mean being able to go out for a run without the fear of being run over by a car, because as you know better than I do, very few people obey the traffic code.

By lifestyle I mean not smelling burned garbage all around and seeing people recycle waste. Because so far I only see people throwing garbage out of car windows and no one tells them anything, and above all you cannot say anything to them because you risk being attacked verbally and physically, and then also being attacked by law enforcement if you go to file a report.

By lifestyle I mean entering a hospital and not losing my place in line because of someone who pays to be treated by doctors, even though they have less serious conditions.

Corruption is this country’s first problem, but anyone with a clear conscience knows that the people who are corrupt are not Edi Rama’s fault.

By lifestyle I mean not breathing in car smog if I want to take a walk in the center. It is not possible for villages like Ksamil, which can be crossed entirely on foot in 15 minutes, to have open access for cars. They should be limited traffic zones! With a giant parking lot before the entrance and drivers who, through electric golf cars, take tourists around the village to accompany them to their various accommodations.

It is enough to take the model of Zermatt in Switzerland as an example.

As for the gathering in Tirana that takes place every evening… it has turned into a game, or rather, it has turned into the new entertainment that replaces the classic evening stroll Albanians take. They do not have the slightest idea of the consequences and what could happen by overthrowing the government in this way, and above all without even knowing themselves who to replace you with. This behavior reminds me of myself when I was a child, when I bought a piggy bank and broke it immediately after a week because I wanted the savings, only to see that there was little or nothing inside and that what I had saved then had to be spent to buy another piggy bank. These people are doing the same thing, but not with a piggy bank, but with something much bigger and more dangerous.

With this message I wanted to show you all my support, as well as that of many other people who, even though in silence, still support you and are satisfied with the work you have done.

I would be lying if I said I agree with everything you have done, but it is certainly undeniable that you have given our country a turning point and an awakening, so please continue making Albania great and making us dream. Thank you and have a good evening!
