Ramush Haradinaj, former leader of the AAK, said the opposition has failed to build a joint political agreement or come forward with a single candidate, which according to him is causing the country to continue being governed by the agenda of the Vetëvendosje Movement and acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti.
He said that a change in the current political situation can come only if the opposition parties unite through a clear political contract and support a common candidate for president.

“We are living in the Kurti era, because when he has 40% or more than 40 MPs, he will implement his agenda in Kosovo.
Our influence, or we could have lived not only in his era but also in the era of others, if we had had a common contract as the opposition. So, AAK and LDK, PDK, along with a concrete plan, a concrete candidacy,” he said.
According to Haradinaj, as long as the opposition does not organize around a clear alternative, Kurti will have a free path to continue with his policies and lead the country to elections again.
“As long as we do not have a contract and we do not have an offer, we are living in the Kurti era, under the Kurti agenda, and he will do what he knows best, a kind of experimentation with Kosovo, and he will send us to elections again. So this is what he knows and what is happening.
From my long political experience, this is how I read it,” he said.
Haradinaj also spoke about the issue of electing the president, assessing that the opposition could play a decisive role if it reaches a joint agreement.
“The opposition can step in and be a factor in taking the country’s fate into its own hands, by having a contract among themselves and a candidacy for president. If someone from the opposition gets the opposition’s support, of course I would support them; if I were proposed (for president), I would consider it.
So, I am not a candidate, I have no conditions, I have no request for anyone. We will not become part of the governing process or the continuation of Kurti’s government, because we have explained several times how harmful it is and what a loss it is for Kosovo. I will say it once again: as long as VV does not fall below 40%, we will live in the Kurti era, under the Kurti agenda, in the Kurti experiment.
We can stop this, we can change it only if the opposition comes together,” he said.
