Alliance Vice President Besnik Tahiri has responded to the killing of a woman and a man in Lower Livoç, Gjilan, calling the case an alarm signal of a deep social crisis in Kosovo.

According to Tahiri, Kosovar society cannot describe itself as modern and Western while reverting, during conflicts or disagreements, to a mindset that seeks justification in tradition and the Kanun.
“Neither tradition, nor the Kanun, nor religion can justify murder. The time has come to speak openly, challenge this mindset and stop remaining silent. Violence is not honor, the killing of women in particular is not tradition, and silence is not a solution,” Tahiri wrote in a Facebook post.
He called on society to confront directly the mindset that normalizes violence and stressed that silence cannot be seen as a solution in the face of such events.
