Describing the previous day as grim, she said institutions and society cannot wait for women to lose their lives before intervening.
Gërvalla stressed that the murder of women is an exceptionally serious and horrific crime that no society should accept as inevitable, especially when it has a responsibility to prevent it.
“Yesterday was a tragic day. Another woman was killed by her husband, and a family suffered an irreparable tragedy. I express my deep sorrow and outrage over the murder of the woman and her brother in Livoç i Ulët, Gjilan. We cannot wait for women to be killed before we respond.
Our responsibility is to intervene, to prevent such crimes and to use every means available to ensure that tragedies like this never happen again,” Gërvalla wrote. She also offered her deepest condolences to the victims’ families.
