A large number of faithful people traveled to the Basilica of Our Lady of Luján in Argentina overnight, taking part in one of the country’s largest Catholic pilgrimages.

For many of them, this pilgrimage was especially significant this year, as they also carried photographs of Pope Leo XIV with them.
By dawn, long lines of pilgrims had formed near the basilica, while some held images of the Virgin Mary.
The long walk exhausted some of the participants, who lay down on the basilica’s floor to rest. Others were seen with bandaged feet after spending hours walking.
The ritual continued with the blessing of the pilgrims with holy water, while priests celebrated Mass.
The highly anticipated papal visit gave this year’s pilgrimage a special significance and a new dimension for believers who uphold this religious tradition.
