The protest escalated further after the draft law amending and supplementing the Law on the Specialist Chambers was approved. Protesters crossed the Assembly’s fences and tried to enter the building.
Pyrotechnic devices were also used near the Assembly building during the plenary session. The first item on the session’s agenda was the draft law amending and supplementing the Law on the Specialist Chambers.
Assembly Speaker Albulena Haxhiu appealed to protesters not to undermine the peaceful nature of the gathering being held in front of the Kosovo Parliament.
Speaking from the Assembly building, Haxhiu said that the right to protest is guaranteed by the Constitution and must be respected. She also called for calm after the draft law amending the Law on the Specialist Chambers was approved in principle.
The noise from the pyrotechnic devices intensified particularly during the speech by Arbërie Nagavci, head of the Parliamentary Group of the Vetëvendosje Movement.
