Borisov recalled that the agreement was signed by him and the prime minister of North Macedonia. He stressed that neither Bulgaria nor the European Commission is asking for anything more than respect for this document.
“There is a Good-Neighbourliness and Friendship Agreement with the Republic of North Macedonia, signed by me and their prime minister. Neither we nor the European Commission are asking for anything other than respect for this agreement. We are not enemies; quite the opposite,” he declared.
The GERB leader stressed that the agreement establishes rights for both parties and also mentioned the so-called French proposal, which he described as clear.
Referring to Bulgaria’s experience with Greece during the process of joining the European Union, Borisov called for issues between the two countries to be addressed through constructive dialogue and diplomatic channels.
“We are not enemies; quite the opposite. If they understand good neighbourliness as we do, they will have no problem,” Borisov concluded.
