Specialists from the Korçë Police Commissariat’s Crime Investigation Unit have launched criminal proceedings, while the two women remain at liberty, against two female citizens suspected of the criminal offense of “Abuse of office.”

They are citizen X., 57, a doctor in the Pediatrics ward at the Korçë Regional Hospital, and citizen K., 60, the director of the kindergarten attended by the children who were later taken to hospital.
The proceedings were initiated after six children from the same kindergarten were brought to the hospital yesterday afternoon and today, having displayed the same gastrointestinal symptoms. According to police, the doctor failed to notify the authorities about the case.
The kindergarten director is suspected of failing to fulfill her official duties regarding the inspection and verification of the food consumed by the children.
The procedural materials will be forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the First-Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Korçë for further action.
