Hashim Thaçi and Jakup Krasniqi were each sentenced to 25 years in prison, Kadri Veseli to 18 years, and Rexhep Selimi to 13 years. In total, the sentences amount to 81 years in prison, causing widespread dissatisfaction in Kosovo and wherever Albanians live.
Thousands of protesters also took part in tonight’s rally, expressing their opposition to the Special Court’s decision against the former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army.
The protest is being held in support of the four former KLA leaders, who are facing legal proceedings before the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague.
During the rally, a phrase once used by former Kosovo President Hashim Thaçi also resurfaced. A banner read: “I love you, you know.”
