The trial of 13 police officers charged with serious offenses against public safety in connection with the tragic fire at the “Puls” nightclub in Koçan has restarted from the beginning.

The proceedings were restarted following a change in the composition of the trial panel, as two lay judges will not be able to participate in the upcoming hearings.
None of the defendants admitted guilt at this fresh start to the proceedings, referring to the positions they had expressed earlier. The prosecution continues to stand by the indictment it filed.
The fire that engulfed the “Puls” nightclub on March 16 last year caused the deaths of 63 people, while more than 200 others were injured.
The indictment alleges that the police officers on duty did not stop the music program and failed to take measures to prevent the use of pyrotechnic devices.
