U.S. President Donald Trump said Russia no longer controls its oil industry, linking the situation to the war in Ukraine.

In a social media post, Trump said that a large number of Russian refineries had been damaged and are currently not operating. “Russia has unfortunately lost control of its oil industry because of the war with Ukraine,” the U.S. president wrote, referring to the damage caused to oil refineries.
He made the statement one day before Trump’s planned meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during the United Nations General Assembly.
Trump also stressed that the conflict is causing serious consequences and reiterated his call for it to end. According to him, around 25,000 people, mostly soldiers, are killed each month. “This ridiculous and endless war with Ukraine must end,” the U.S. president concluded.
