Where did the 53 million euros go, Mr. Gjini?” – Bekteshi challenges AAK after the decision on Pal Lekaj

An open accusation has come from Albanian-American activist Ramazan Bekteshi, who has directly targeted the head of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Adrian Gjini, demanding transparency over the sum of 53 million euros in light of the conviction of former minister Pal Lekaj.

Through a Facebook post, Bekteshi shifts focus to the destination of these large public funds and asks whether the money will ever be returned to the state treasury. He questions the political narrative of AAK against the Vetëvendosje Movement, emphasizing that responsibility does not end with a court decision.

“53 million euros, not 53! Pal Lekaj received a sentence of 3 years and 8 months in prison for this case. Now I ask Adrian Gjini and the entire AAK: Where is this money?” writes Bekteshi in his reaction.

He further adds that the prison sentence may represent a form of accountability, but the millions of euros that belong to the citizens do not automatically disappear with the announcement of the verdict. According to him, the party is trying to present this as a political success, while labeling Prime Minister Kurti and Vetëvendosje as major criminals.

“It is the money of the people of Kosovo. Who benefited from it and where did it go? If there really has been damage to the public interest, then the public has the right to a concrete answer and the tracing of every cent,” he continues.

Bekteshi concludes his stance with a provocative question directed at the head of AAK, ironizing the logic according to which the party accuses Vetëvendosje of serious crimes, while faced with a conviction for misuse of a staggering figure, the response seems pale. “How do you explain this phenomenon, Mr. Gjini? AAK steals, but Vetëvendosje is super-criminal? If for 53 million euros the sentence is so low, what signal does this send to society? A punishment like for carrying a weapon without a permit? You steal millions and pay a symbolic price?”

Further, he ironically comments that AAK has now been confirmed as a dedicated and passionate defender of Leka j and his circle, describing this stance as an open embrace.
