Violent clashes outside Ministry of Education as police forcibly detain several protesters

Police have begun detaining protesters outside the Ministry of Education, where tensions have once again escalated into violent physical clashes between protesters and officers.

The decisive intervention by police at the scene followed the use of a water cannon to push the crowd back from the building’s perimeter.

Fierce clashes broke out during the detentions. Officers subdued several of the most active protesters and forcibly took them to police stations in the capital.
