According to international media reports, the next meeting will be held in Rome. The US State Department confirmed the talks in a statement, announcing that Washington would act as mediator.
The negotiations aim to halt the fighting in Lebanon, where Israeli forces have carried out repeated attacks on targets belonging to Hezbollah, the Iran-backed militant group.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has described the Iranians as cunning and dishonest negotiators.
“They are cunning negotiators because they agree to something and then go out and say they never agreed to it. They are dishonest people,” Trump said during an interview.
The White House chief also said that Iran is facing major military and economic difficulties. “We control their money; we have complete control. I am their banker. They have 300% inflation, and their currency is almost worthless,” the US president added.
