The domestic transport association “Makam-trans” has organized a protest today from 12:00 to 14:00 in front of the headquarters of the European Union Delegation in Skopje. The transporters are seeking a solution to the restrictions concerning professional drivers’ stays in the Schengen area.

During the gathering, around 20 trucks from Skopje will be parked near the EU Delegation. The protest will be attended by owners of transport companies, drivers and other employees from several parts of the country.
The event is being held as a warning ahead of tomorrow’s meeting of the Working Group in Brussels, from which the transporters expect a solution to their status. The difficulties are related to the EU’s 90/180 rule, which allows citizens of third countries to stay no more than 90 days within any 180-day period.
Similar protests by transporters will also be held simultaneously in Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro.
