US forces launched a new series of airstrikes on Iranian targets in areas surrounding the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday afternoon.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a post that the operation targeted facilities belonging to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
According to CENTCOM, the strikes were carried out following recent actions by the Revolutionary Guard against commercial vessels sailing through the Strait of Hormuz, as well as against US military personnel stationed in the region.
Initial reports from foreign media indicated explosions in Bandar Abbas, Shirik and Jask, three key ports near the strait.
Similar incidents were also reported on Qeshm Island, within the strait, as well as in Konarak and Chabahar in southeastern Iran.
There has so far been no clear confirmation of which facilities were struck by US forces.
