Through a reaction on “Facebook”, Prime Minister Edi Rama has responded for the first time after the student protests that have continued in Tirana, accusing the opposition of escalating tensions and warning of punishment for individuals who, according to him, were involved in the recent events.
Rama stated that the violent actions do not represent the students, whom he described as the future of the country. He declared that the government is ready to engage in dialogue with them and discuss finding solutions for their demands.

“Ruins from hands that cannot belong to students. Students are the future and they are the ones who see far ahead and want to go far fast. They are welcome and for them we are ready to talk and discuss, to find solutions for the things that need solutions”, Rama writes.
The head of government attributed the tensions to the opposition, accusing it of trying to hinder, according to him, Albania’s progress through acts of violence.
“These are other hands, the hands that try to bring Albania down every time it tries to rise, they are the hands of the opposition that with blind masks on, with fire and iron seeks to take Albania back to where it will never return, to the abyss from which we pulled it out”, continues the Prime Minister’s reaction.
Rama described the developments as “difficult hours”, but stressed that Albania will continue its path toward the European Union. In his reaction, he also warned of legal consequences for individuals who, according to him, were involved in the recent events.
“These are difficult hours that we will get through together because Albania will continue to climb on the road toward Europe. It will never again be in the hands of those who have grabbed the Albanian opposition by the throat. Whoever thinks the law is far away is mistaken. Whoever has a hand in this mess will pay because Albania will not go back again”, Rama concludes.
