During the retrial session against Endrit Nika, witness Erza Limani recounted details from the night the incident occurred, saying she had heard a loud noise and then gone outside to understand what had happened.
Limani explained that that night she was on the night shift, which began at23:00. She said she had seen Nika and the girl as they entered the hotel after midnight, but had noticed nothing unusual in the way they behaved.
“I only saw them that night when they came to the hotel. The incident happened an hour or two later. When they entered, I greeted them and they went to their room. I didn’t notice anything suspicious in their behavior,” she said in her testimony.
Loud noise and the girl lying on the ground
According to Limani’s account, around02:00 she had heard a very loud noise, which prompted her to go out and see what was happening.
“I heard a loud noise that made me go outside. I saw a girl lying on the ground, with pieces of glass around her, as well as the window frame and a sneaker,” Limani stated.
She said she immediately called Ramiz Nuha, who was on the floor above. When she approached the girl, the latter was still alive and had asked for water.
“When I went to the girl, she was still alive and asked for water. This happened before the guard came down. Then Endrit also came. I had a bottle of water in my hand, but I didn’t give it to the girl. I gave it to Endrit, who was next to her. I don’t know whether he gave it to her to drink or wet her face with it,” the witness recounted.
One of the central points of Limani’s testimony was the conversation she had with Endrit Nika after the incident. According to her, Nika had told her that they had been sleeping in room403 and that he did not know how the girl had fallen.
“Endrit came to me and started telling me how it had happened. He told me that they had been sleeping in room403 and that he didn’t know how the girl had fallen. I told him that this was not possible, because the bed is far from the window,” she stated.
Limani also spoke about Nika’s reaction when she informed him that the Police were coming to the scene.
“When I told him the Police were coming, Endrit said: ‘No, not the Police, not the Police.’ He was nervous and tense. He used insulting words and offenses, not directed at me, but in general. I felt frightened and moved a bit further away,” Limani recounted.
During her testimony, the former receptionist also mentioned a detail regarding Nika’s clothing after the incident. According to her, when he had come down, he was wearing a shirt that was torn at the back.
She added that the hotel guard had called the Police to request the intervention of the authorities and the ambulance.
Erza Limani’s testimony was given as part of the retrial of Endrit Nika at the Basic Court in Pristina. The circumstances of the incident and any potential criminal responsibility remain subject to judicial assessment.
