For 27 consecutive days, massive protests have continued, with citizens demanding the government’s removal and the unconditional resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama.
In a reaction on social media, lawyer Spartak Ngjela compared the head of government to former dictator Enver Hoxha, following statements that the protests against him were organized by foreign agents.

According to Ngjela, Rama is following Enver Hoxha’s model in several ways, describing every social movement against himself as being incited by anti-Albanian foreign factors.
He says that the prime minister is seeking to display the same style and create the idea of a force similar to that of the former dictator because, according to him, Rama’s subconscious contains envy for having dictatorial power like that of Enver Hoxha.
However, Ngjela stresses that this cannot happen because the current times are not in Rama’s favor, unlike the period of Enver Hoxha, who, according to him, did not keep power through votes, but at gunpoint.
In his post, Ngjela also raises the question of whether the force of a dictator can be sought without first turning the state itself back into an organized party dictatorship, before then answering that this is impossible.
He concludes that, precisely because of this demand, Rama is in delusion, which he defines as a mistake made unintentionally that gives a person the strength to believe in a goal that cannot be achieved.
Ngjela’s post is dated June 26, 2026 and was signed by him in Tirana.
