New strikes on Iran after the midterm elections? Trump rules them out

Donald Trump ruled out the possibility of the United States resuming strikes against Iran after the U.S. midterm elections. When reporters asked whether Washington would carry out further military operations against Tehran after the vote, the U.S. president gave a one-word answer: “No.”

His comments came after he delivered a speech at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington. During the event, Trump also discussed the progress of the conflict with Iran.

Addressing the impact on energy markets, he claimed that the United States was winning against Iran and predicted further declines in oil prices.

According to Trump, oil had fallen by $10, a move he described as the largest single-day drop in history. He added that the price would fall again, linking that expectation to his claim that the United States was winning easily against Iran.

On international markets, U.S. WTI crude fell by as much as 6.7% to $97.1 a barrel. Brent also recorded a 6.7% decline, reaching $105.86 a barrel.

These declines followed signals from Tehran that the conflict could be resolved through diplomacy. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said the government was trying to resolve the situation through dialogue and that Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei had granted him the necessary authority to move the process forward.
