The Special Prosecution Office has concluded its investigation into one of the separate factions of the Laert Haxhiu case. SPAK has closed the investigation into Lorenc Lala and Ederin Çaushi and has asked the Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime to send the case to trial.

The prosecutor has charged them with “murder for blood feud,” “unlicensed possession and production of weapons,” “participation in a structured criminal group,” “commission of criminal offenses by a criminal organization,” and “securing the conditions and material means to commit murder.”
Meanwhile, regarding Klea Gjata, Enio Meçaj, Veiz Bashaliu and Mikel Xhaja, the prosecution has requested that the case against all of them be dismissed, as the verifications carried out during the investigation concluded that they had not committed a criminal offense.
Lorenc Lala is suspected of having cooperated with Laert Haxhiu, Artan Tafani, Lulzim Spahija, Enriko Xhahysan and Bledar Berberi to murder Albi Bashaliu on December 27, 2021, in Gjocaj, Peqin.
He is suspected of having paid 50,000 euros for Bashaliu’s murder and of having secured the weapons and means of transport for the criminal group, as well as their escape from the crime scene.
Ederin Caushi, meanwhile, is suspected of the criminal offense of “securing the conditions and material means to commit murder,” carried out in cooperation, against Rexhep Gina.
