The Government of Kosovo has allocated €3.8 million for the energy renovation of 13 public buildings in four municipalities, including the Municipality of Viti, Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti said, KosovaPress reports.

Kurti made the remarks during his stay in Viti, where he attended the inauguration of energy-efficiency measures at the “28 November” Primary and Lower Secondary School.
Around €118,000 was invested in interventions at this school alone. The investment aims to create more suitable conditions for students and teachers.
“The teachers and students of this school, and beyond, will have the unwavering support of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo for energy efficiency, but also for quality education. We have invested around €118,000 in energy efficiency at this school. The idea is that temperature, lighting, air quality, windows and the boiler all form a system that enables the most dignified and suitable conditions possible, both for the teachers who work here and for the students who study here… This is one of five buildings renovated in Viti under the government’s agreement with the municipalities and the Kosovo Energy Efficiency Fund. Across the entire scheme, the government is investing €3.8 million in the energy renovation of 13 public buildings in four municipalities,” Kurti said.
Acting Economy Minister Artane Rizvanolli said the measures implemented at the school had generated significant energy savings.
The €118,000 financed the thermal insulation of the exterior walls, roof insulation, replacement of doors and windows, installation of a pellet heating system, and LED lighting.
“The efficiency measures, worth €118,000, include the thermal insulation of the exterior walls, roof insulation, replacement of doors and windows, installation of a pellet heating system and efficient LED lighting. The effects are already tangible for the students and everyone here; annual savings amount to around 75 percent, or 118,000 kilowatt-hours per year. This means, on the one hand, improved learning conditions for students, as well as reduced pollution, because previously the boiler had a larger capacity and used wood. Now, because it is more efficient, the capacity is lower and it uses more pellets, which means it is less polluting for the air here during the winter for the children,” Rizvanolli said.
According to Rizvanolli, annual savings amount to around 75 percent, or 118,000 kilowatt-hours per year. She stressed that the interventions had improved learning conditions and helped reduce pollution, as the wood-fired boiler had been replaced with a more efficient pellet system with a lower capacity.
Rizvanolli called on municipalities to make use of the new call for applications, which the Kosovo Energy Efficiency Fund is expected to open in the coming months.
Njomza Hoxha, Managing Director of the Kosovo Energy Efficiency Fund, said the benefits of the investments went beyond energy savings, as they had created better conditions for students and teachers.
“In addition to energy savings, greater comfort has also been provided for students and teachers here,” Hoxha said.
Sherif Neziri, director of the “28 November” Primary and Lower Secondary School, thanked the institutions on behalf of the school administration for the investment and improvements to the building.
After the ceremony at the “28 November” Primary and Lower Secondary School, the activity continued at the Social Work Center in Viti, where measures to increase energy efficiency have also been implemented.
