Gruda: Refusal to implement the law could lead to the closure of the Special Court

PDK deputy Përparim Gruda warned that bypassing the amendments to the Law on Specialized Chambers could force Kosovo to reconsider its agreement with the European Union regarding the Special Court. He expressed this during the “Debat Plus” program of RTV Dukagjini.

According to him, not every provision of the law comes into question, while the reports that could emerge from European institutions would constitute the foundation for a dialogue with the EU.

“The next step, if this law is not implemented – which I am convinced will not happen. Some of its articles are being contested, because not all articles can be contested; oversight cannot be contested. We build a path for dialogue, and we open the way to terminate the agreement and thus close the Special Court. Why? Because the failure to respect this law and those reports that the best institutions in Europe will produce opens the way for Kosovo to annul the agreement,” declared Gruda.

“A state can annul the agreement even arbitrarily. We can tell the EU that tomorrow we want to vote on a law that terminates the agreement – 80 votes, we don’t need two-thirds doubled. If the EU feels wronged, it can take us to arbitration to recover the money. But we can always exit the agreement,” he concluded.
