The olive-grove hills in Gorishovë, part of the Cakran administrative unit in the municipality of Fier, were engulfed by a large fire around midday today.

Strong winds have helped spread the flames across a wide area of scrubland, olive groves and forest. Residents have been alarmed by the situation, but the fire is far from populated areas.
Firefighting teams have arrived at the scene and are working to contain the fire fronts and extinguish the flames. The operation is being hampered by the rugged terrain and weather conditions, which are favoring the continued spread of the fire.
This is the second major fire in the Cakran area within two days. The day before, flames engulfed the hills of Kreshpan, where around 2,000 olive trees and a considerable area of land were burned.
Authorities are continuing their intervention on the ground, aiming to bring the situation under control and prevent the fire from spreading further.
