Minister of Economy and Labor Besar Durmishi today presented the results of the Ministry’s two-year work at a press conference, emphasizing that the institution’s main objectives have been job creation, improving the business climate and attracting new investments.
He said the Ministry’s activity has been oriented around five strategic priorities: reducing unemployment, supporting investments, developing small and medium-sized enterprises, implementing the reform agenda and digitalizing services. According to Durmishi, one of the biggest tasks over the past two years has been preserving citizens’ standard of living, at a time when the global economy continues to feel the effects of global crises, supply chain disruptions and geopolitical tensions.

According to the minister, more than 2.5 billion denars have been secured for active employment measures during 2025 alone. Meanwhile, for 2026, an additional 2.41 billion denars have been planned to support more than 10,000 citizens through self-employment, internship, retraining and subsidized employment programs.
“I do not have the statistics with me right now because I came to give an account before the media, before the citizens, for the work we have done over two years, and naturally for every institution, meaning over these two years there have been recruitments carried out on the basis of merit and on the basis of the qualifications of the candidates who applied for those jobs,” Durmishi said.
In closing the conference, Durmishi stressed that the reforms will continue in the coming period, with special emphasis on increasing investments, strengthening domestic companies and improving citizens’ standard of living.
