He advised citizens not to leave standing water near their homes, as even very small amounts of water are enough for mosquitoes to breed.
According to Danillovski, older people, those with chronic illnesses and people with weakened immune systems are at the greatest risk of developing a severe form of West Nile fever. He noted that personal protection includes wearing appropriate clothing and installing screens on windows.
“Removing standing water near homes is particularly important for people who live in houses with yards. They may have old vehicle tires that are often filled with water that has accumulated over a long period, turning them into mosquito breeding grounds,” Danillovski said on “Telma.”
Discussing the symptoms of West Nile fever, the epidemiologist cited high fever, severe headaches, neck stiffness, impaired consciousness and paralysis. If these symptoms appear, he urged citizens to see a doctor immediately for an examination.
