“I just arrived in Tirana. This weekend I will be at the demonstration and will meet the people and activists who are bringing this fantastic popular movement to life,” the MEP wrote.
Meanwhile, the organizers have called on citizens from across Albania to take part in the national anti-government protest, where the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama is being demanded.
Earlier, German MEP Jutta Paulus also announced her participation in the protest taking place in Tirana. In an Instagram post, she stressed that defending democracy, the rule of law and the environment is a cause of particular importance.
Paulus said she wants to hear the concerns of Albanian citizens firsthand and take them to Brussels, with the aim of increasing international attention and pressure on the Albanian government’s decision-making.
