According to officials, the suspect was found with illegal weapons and ammunition, while the investigation remains ongoing.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said Jeanine John Taele was spotted walking around the golf course, taking photographs and filming, and appeared to be monitoring security measures. He was arrested on Sunday after plainclothes federal agents raised the alarm.
During checks, police discovered that Taele was also wanted in connection with a robbery being investigated by the El Segundo Police Department.
He was found in possession of a prohibited magazine containing 16 rounds, while a loaded handgun and additional ammunition were discovered inside his car. He currently faces charges of carrying a firearm without a permit and possessing illegal ammunition.
The following day, FBI agents and members of the Joint Terrorism Task Force searched his home in Downey, where they seized an illegally modified AR-style rifle, a .45-caliber handgun, bulletproof vests, high-capacity magazines, substantial quantities of ammunition, and notebooks containing material that authorities described as concerning.
The investigation is being conducted in cooperation with the U.S. Secret Service, and officials have not ruled out additional charges. However, they stressed that no credible threat to the community has been identified so far and that there is no evidence the suspect had planned an attack against President Trump.
The arrest came ahead of Trump’s visit to California, where he is expected to attend a fundraising event before traveling to Las Vegas. The visit comes at a time of intensifying political activity ahead of the U.S. midterm elections.
