Adem Salihaj Comments on LDK’s Decision: Abdixhiku’s Position Was Unclear

The Democratic League of Kosovo has decided not to continue talks with the Vetëvendosje Movement. LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku announced that his party would remain in opposition, but did not rule out the possibility of supporting a presidential candidate.

Speaking to “Bota Sot,” former LDK MP Adem Salihaj described Abdixhiku’s statement following the party’s withdrawal from the negotiations as insufficiently clear.

According to Salihaj, it is inconsistent with the approach followed so far for the LDK to give up everything while simultaneously helping Vetëvendosje elect the president. He said the message conveyed appears to be that the LDK is asking for nothing, leaving everything to others and agreeing to vote for the president. Salihaj added that he did not know what this approach was intended to achieve, as it did not sound convincing to him.

In conclusion, the former MP said that, regardless of how it is achieved, it would be in Kosovo’s best interest for the Assembly to be constituted, the government to be formed and the president to be elected.
