SPB Tetovë announced that the 74-year-old mountaineer, who was found without signs of life at a place called “Black Peak”, at around 2500 meters above sea level, has been identified. Examinations have determined that the cause of death was a natural process.

The incident was reported on 20.09.2026, at 14:37, when a group of mountaineers notified authorities about finding the body of an elderly man on a hiking trail. The victim was A.S. (74) from the village of Xhepçisht, and his identity was confirmed by M.J., with whom he had walked earlier.
The on-duty public prosecutor from the Tetovë Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office was informed about the case. Since the terrain was difficult for intervention, teams from the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit “Tigri” and the Police Tasks Unit within the Aviation Units Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs were engaged to extract the body by helicopter. The body was removed from the area and taken to the Department of Forensic Medicine at the Clinical Hospital in Tetovë.
After the examination, it was concluded that it was a natural death. By order of the public prosecutor, the body was handed over to family members for burial, SPB announced. /Telegrafi/
