Gashi’s statement came after six LDK lawmakers failed to support Bekim Sejdiu’s candidacy for president of Kosovo.
According to Gashi, Shala presented Abdixhiku with the option of giving up his mandate, while the LDK leader replied that this should not be treated as a matter for discussion and that Shala should continue exercising his mandate.
“Kujtim Shala offered yesterday to surrender his mandate and was told that this is not a topic for discussion. You have your opinion, carry on,” Gashi said.
Gashi added that the other five lawmakers were also expected to act in the same way. However, after Abdixhiku did not accept Shala’s resignation, the procedure was not pursued.
Earlier, Abdixhiku had announced that he would make public the names of the lawmakers who did not support Bekim Sejdiu’s election as president.
