Following Harald V’s Death, Haakon VIII Ascends to the Norwegian Throne

Haakon VIII has been proclaimed the new king of Norway following the death of his father, Harald V.

With the start of the new reign, the Norwegian royal family has also made public the official portrait of the new monarch, marking a new stage for the country’s monarchy.

Haakon VIII succeeds Harald V at the head of the throne, after the latter ruled Norway for decades. The change of monarch has also brought the start of the relevant procedures and ceremonies by the royal family.
