The catastrophic floods that struck the border region between Nepal and Tibet on August 26 have left extensive damage, documented through satellite imagery.
According to reports, hundreds of people have lost their lives or are missing, while buildings and bridges have been destroyed by intense rainfall and flooding.

Images obtained from PlanetScope show the significant changes in the affected areas, stretching from Timure and Chappthoke to the Langtang-Lirung Glacier, near the border with Tibet.
The consequences have also been observed in Syapru Besi, Bidur and Kolpurtar, demonstrating the wide extent of the natural disaster.
A comparison of images taken before and after the floods highlights the transformations caused on the ground. At the Langtang-Lirung Glacier, images from August 25 and 26 have been placed side by side, while comparative images have also been used for Syapru Besi, Bidur and Kolpurtar.
