The protest against Prime Minister Edi Rama in Tirana has entered its 89th day, while citizens are demanding his resignation. In this situation, the statements Rama made when he was in opposition have come back into focus, as they are being contrasted with his approach during his years in power.
Rama accused the government at the time of having failed to build a healthcare system serving Albanians.

Today, citizens themselves criticize his government over corruption and the problems of a healthcare system that, according to them, does not provide the proper response to their needs.
“We are in the 100th year of the Albanian state, in the middle of Europe, and we have a healthcare service that has nothing at all to do with either the century in which we live or the continent where we live, nor with the fact that we have been trying to build a state for 100 years. We still have not managed to build a state in the service of citizens,” Rama said at the time.
