Tensions with Iran, US suspends new strikes and increases pressure through sanctions; Rubio: No further military operations planned

The United States does not plan, at least for the time being, to carry out further attacks against Iran. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio conveyed this position to several foreign counterparts in recent days.

Axios reports that Rubio explained that Washington’s attention has currently shifted to other mechanisms for putting pressure on Tehran, including a new initiative to impose sanctions announced this week.

A source cited by Axios said that the US secretary of state had made it clear that the United States does not intend to resume broad military operations against Iran. However, the possibility of attacks remains open if Iran strikes first.

At the same time, another US official described the US Navy’s operation to clear mines from the Strait of Hormuz as a decisive turning point in the conflict.

According to the official, removing the mines has significantly weakened one of the main tools Iran could use to exert pressure in this strategic area.

Relations between Washington and Tehran continue to be characterized by tensions. The United States is prioritizing economic and diplomatic pressure, but it has not ruled out a military response if Iran takes further action against US forces.
