The Basic Court in Peja has acquitted Halil, Kreshnik and Kastriot Mehmetaj, who were on trial for the triple murder in Gllogjan.

The verdict was handed down on Monday, following a judicial process that had lasted several years.
The incident for which the three defendants were accused occurred on November 26, 2021, when a bus traveling in Gllogjan was attacked with firearms.
As a result of the shooting, the bus driver, Gani Gjokaj, and two 17-year-old students, L.H. and G.M., were killed. Another person was seriously injured.
According to the prosecution’s allegations, the attack targeted driver Gani Gjokaj, whom the Mehmetaj family blamed for the suicide of their daughter, Heroina Mehmetaj.
The indictment stated that Kastriot Mehmetaj had fired at the bus, Kreshnik Mehmetaj had helped him escape, while Halil Mehmetaj was accused of inciting his two sons to kill Gjokaj.
The trial was reopened in July this year after a new video recording was submitted. After the proceedings concluded, the Basic Court in Peja decided to acquit all three defendants.
