Under the Law on Holidays, because August 2 falls on a Sunday, Monday, August 3, will be a non-working day for all citizens of North Macedonia.
Employees will therefore have three consecutive days off: Saturday, Sunday and Monday. For many, this could provide an opportunity for a short trip or holiday.
Ilinden commemorates two events of particular significance in Macedonian history: the Ilinden Uprising of 1903 and the First Session of ASNOM, held in 1944.
Meanwhile, the next non-working day for Orthodox believers will be Friday, August 28, when the religious feast of the Dormition of the Mother of God, also known as the Great Lady, is celebrated.
