The Mayor of Kamenica, Kadri Rahimaj, has announced that the Basic Court has ruled in his favor in the defamation lawsuit he initiated against his predecessor in this post, Qëndron Kastrati.
Through a post on the social network Facebook, Rahimaj stated that the judicial body confirmed the defamatory nature of the claims made during the electoral campaign period.

The mayor explained that the judgment includes the obligation to compensate the damage caused, to retract the claims in the media where they were disseminated, and to cover all court costs.
Reflecting on the case, he emphasized that a series of serious accusations had been leveled against him, but he chose to respond without returning the same insults and divisive rhetoric. “I decided to follow the path I believe befits any conscientious citizen: calmly and without public fanfare, I turned to the justice system,” he explained.
Rahimaj interpreted this decision as concrete proof that the reality of facts can be delayed, but it is never permanently hidden. In his full post, he delivered a broader message, underscoring that in local and national political debate, the pillars should be verifiable data and argumentation, not slander and personal degradation.
He reaffirmed his commitment to the responsibilities entrusted to him by the residents of Kamenica, adhering to the principle that citizens deserve results, not conflicts. “Justice has spoken on this matter, while we will continue to communicate through our deeds,” he concluded, thanking all those who kept calm and did not allow hate speech to become the norm on the political stage.
