Besa represents one of the most precious pillars of Albanian heritage. It cannot be reduced to a political pact or a call in difficult times.

It is that bond of trust forged through integrity, sincerity, and complete harmony between what is said and what is done. Besa is not imposed; it is earned.
When a government calls for besa after having exhausted every reserve of trust, a deep contradiction emerges. The reason is that besa has no power to restore what has been eroded by a long history of doubt. It does not serve as a political escape, but as an ethical verdict on the way of governing.
When rhetoric, artistic expression, symbols, and aesthetics are placed in service of the ruler’s image, even the loftiest concepts risk being emptied of meaning. Besa is not merely an ornament to speeches; it is the dividing line between reality and deception.
This is precisely why the Flamingos are unable to offer this besa. Not because they speak for themselves, but because they are bearers of the trust of those citizens who place accountability before reconciliation and trust before any kind of deal.
To turn besa into a political bargaining chip means to empty it and to betray those who aspire to a completely different form of political action.
The Flamingos did not appear to bargain for the survival of a regime. They came out to protect the dignity of the individual, the importance of kept promises, and the right to escape manipulation, even when it is masked behind the most sacred expressions.
Because besa is not a shelter for power. It is the highest honor that a people reserves only for those who have earned it through deeds.
