According to BDI, the Municipality of Skopje continues to disregard bilingualism and the multiethnic nature of the capital, despite citizens and public opinion repeatedly expressing dissatisfaction.
“The exclusion of Albanian on an official sign constitutes not merely a violation of the law, but an act that generates a sense of exclusion and incites unnecessary interethnic tensions. BDI will not accept that the implementation of the Albanian language be conditioned by the political will of a single individual. For this purpose, we will initiate a judicial process before the relevant bodies to verify and sanction this violation.”
“Taking into account the voice of the citizens and the importance of preserving harmony, we once again appeal to the Mayor of Skopje to act responsibly, enforce the law, and not create divisions, hatred, or ethnic tensions in the capital. Skopje belongs to all its residents. The Albanian language is neither a favor nor a decoration, but a right protected by law. The illegal sign must be removed without any delay,” BDI emphasized./Telegrafi/
