Marius Borg Høiby, the son of Norway’s Crown Princess Mette-Marit, will remain under house arrest after being authorized to leave pretrial detention. The decision comes as his mother recovers from a lung transplant.
Norwegian authorities have ruled that, until the new trial takes place, Høiby will serve the measure at home under electronic monitoring.

The 29-year-old was convicted at first instance a month ago on two charges related to rape and domestic violence against a former partner. He has appealed the decision, while legal proceedings are expected to continue.
According to Norwegian media reports, Princess Mette-Marit’s health condition was among the main reasons the court accepted the request for house arrest. She recently underwent a successful lung transplant and is in the recovery period.
“My family has gone through a very difficult period. Everyone is by my mother’s side. Not being able to support her is extremely difficult for me,” Høiby said, according to Norwegian public broadcaster NRK.
