The Democratic Party has taken a strong stance against the recent statements by Snezhana Paunović, Serbia’s Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, calling for immediate action against her. According to the DP, she should be declared persona non grata and face justice for inciting genocide.
In its official statement, the opposition political force described the minister’s remarks as racist and deeply anti-Albanian, stressing that they openly clash with the spirit of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

According to the Democratic Party, the minister in the government led by Aleksandar Vučić, whom they call “Edi Rama’s master,” made a scandalous statement. She is quoted as saying that, had she been in Slobodan Milošević’s position in 1998, she would have ethnically cleansed Kosovo.
For the DP, this expression of Serbian ultranationalism shows regret that “the butcher of the Balkans,” Milošević, with his notorious “Horseshoe” plan and the latest genocide against Albanians, failed to drive them from their ancestral lands.
While strongly condemning the stance of the representative of what they describe as “primitive Serbian ultranationalism,” the Democrats also criticized the silence of Prime Minister Edi Rama and his government. They stressed that only two concrete actions would respond appropriately to the situation: declaring Ms. Paunović persona non grata and filing charges for inciting genocide.
