A total of 79 security measures were implemented: 73 people were jailed, while 6 others were placed under house arrest.

According to the charges, the suspects, depending on their role, face allegations of participation in a mafia organization, international drug trafficking, extortion, illegal possession of weapons, robbery, and other crimes committed with mafia methods.

Investigators believe that these groups had set up a system of illegal activities through which they controlled parts of the territory of Reggio Calabria. Revenue came from drug trafficking and from extortion of businessmen and traders.

The investigation also revealed the clans’ financial interests and the mechanisms they used to manage criminal activities, aiming to maintain their influence over the territory.
